Dr. Aroca is Professor of Economics and
Business at Adolfo Ibáñez University in Santiago,
Chile. He holds the PhD. in
Economics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Master in
Economics from the University of Chile, and the Commercial Engineer degree from
the Universidad Austral de Chile. His
doctoral specialization is in Regional Economics, Econometrics and Natural
Resources Economics. He has recently
published on product input analysis, spatial econometrics, regional growth, and
interregional labor migration.
He is responsible for the Nucleus of the Millennium Scientific Initiative of MIDEPLAN "Regional Science and Public Policies". He is also Research Professor at the Laboratory of Applied Regional Economics (REAL), University of Illinois.
Between 1997 and 2000 he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the Catholic University of the North and has been a consultant for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Center Latin American Demography of the United Nations (CELADE-UN). He is currently president of the RSAmericas (Regional Science Association of Americas), and belongs to the Board of the RSAI (Regional Science Association International) and PRSCO (Pacific Regional Science Council).
He is co-author of the recently published volume, “Regional Problems and Policies in Latin America” (Springer).
