Peter Barcher is Associate Vice
President for Research and Economic Development at George Mason
University. GMU is one of the fastest
growing research universities, now in the top tier of American research
universities.
In addition to his research
management post at GMU, he is also Professor in the School of Education. Previously, he was Associate Dean for
Research and Program Development, School of Business, at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to that, he
served as Associate Director and Coordinator of Research and Program
Development, State University of New York at Brockport.
Dr. Barcher’s professional work
concentrates on research development and infrastructure, particularly in the
areas of sponsored programs, technology transfer, research integrity, environmental
health and safety, research policy development, and federal relations.
He has been responsible for all
matters pertaining to the research mission at large diversified research
universities. This includes
assisting faculty members and departments in obtaining sponsored funds in
support of individual, departmental and institutional advancement, providing college-wide
leadership on matters concerning extramural funding, and ensuring integrity
throughout the conduct of the research.
His doctoral work was in Psychology
and Statistics at Syracuse University.
